Scenario-Based Goal Handling

If your organization handles smart workplaces, you require the integration of a keyless and cloud-based access system for workspaces. However, with upgradation to contact structure adaptation due to the COVID-19 pandemic, your organization may implement an app instead of using an access card. This enables entry using smartphones near the front of a door reader.

An app like this needs a strong back-end platform where the workplace information can be synchronized with low-latency with the user databases. It is needed to grant active users access to the workplace and the entire sub-units depending on your access level. Access could be limited in a range of ways, and access profiles are mapped to different user groups. The back-end platform is available as an app so administrators can control the entire system based on authority.

As your business grows, different segments of your cloud network can be elastically resized at any time to meet its changing requirements, including the Elastic Compute Service (ECS), the Object Storage Service (OSS), Express Connect, or the Smart Access Gateway (SAG).

Alibaba Cloud’s platform features high concurrent data processing capabilities as it is based on a distributed processing architecture. With a scenario that involves access and authorization to a workplace, Alibaba Cloud services can easily handle multiple network-connected door readers and other connected hardware.

The Alibaba Cloud platform offers various data analysis services and a powerful computing platform. Through various algorithms, analytical models, and multi-type data convergence, any solution that requires unlimited storage, such as Alibaba Cloud OSS or File Storage NAS, can leverage the resources for specific data handling.

The Alibaba Cloud infrastructure comes with a suite of security services that protect the network application system. Industry-leading security features can prevent DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attacks. The DDoS Premium and DDoS Pro solutions offer a variety of features to ward off any attacks. The Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) service and a distributed architecture can be mixed to support this sort of solution. Alibaba Cloud VPC enables the user to build a highly secured and isolated network environment, including a customized IP address range, network segment, route table, and gateway. This configuration integrates the services of Alibaba Cloud Elastic Compute Service (ECS) and Server Load Balancer (SLB) instances to bring more stability and reliability to the system.

This architecture provides services that are scalable, reliable, and secure. We can distribute this solution into five segments, which are all connected with a Virtual Private Cloud (VPC):

Every setup works with a data communication server cluster. This cluster is built to collect and process the data from the hardware devices. The collected data is sent to the server cluster for processing in real-time. Alongside processing, the monitoring server keeps a close check for any abnormal or inconsistent data.

The web application server cluster connects to the access reader hardware. It allows the administrators to remotely manage and control any equipment that is connected to the network.

Data from the hardware device is stored in the ApsaraDB for RDS database cluster using the Distributed Relational Database Service, which is responsible for real-time query services for all users. Then, data is synchronized with the ODPS cluster, which performs statistical analyses and various predictions based on the proprietary data analysis model that your application is using. The results of the data analysis can be sent across for further analysis depending on the requirements.

Security and Performance

The Alibaba Cloud Server Load Balancer (SLB) and a horizontally scalable Elastic Compute Service (ECS) cluster are used in the IoT stage and service zone to allow the reliable collection of highly concurrent data. SLB distributes traffic across multiple instances to improve the service capabilities of applications.

This includes zone-specific disaster recovery, which enables high availability across zones and failover protection. In this scenario, the traffic is automatically distributed across instances to maintain performance.
