We chose ApsaraDB for POLARDB not just because of its distributed block storage technology that can effectively cope with the challenges of massive amounts of data, but also because of its strong computing power, which significantly improves the query efficiency of complex reports. These advantages allow us to maximize KeDao’s ability to explore the full potential of catering data, thereby helping our customers improve their operational efficiency.
ApsaraDB for POLARDB uses an advanced computing/storage separation architecture. Storage nodes can be scaled up to 100 TB. Computing nodes can share the same storage, and depending on the service load, can be flexibly scaled up to 16 nodes, thereby providing active-active high availability.
In the process of developing ApsaraDB for POLARDB, we used next-generation hardware technologies to improve performance. For example, we used the RDMA technology to connect computing nodes and storage nodes. The ApsaraDB for POLARDB storage nodes use Intel’s 3D Xpoint technology-driven Optane memory cards. These new hardware technologies all help improve the performance of ApsaraDB for POLARDB and provide more stable Quality of Service (QoS).
